While I wait for Virtual D.J. Support to answer the back and forth that is my current support ticket, I thought I'd bring the question here, to see if someone here might be well versed enough in Windows computers to have a clue as to why....
On the new HP DV6 computer I just bought, when the scratch light is lit on my controller (Hercules 4-Mx), the left deck's jog wheel is in scratch mode. When the light is turned off, the left deck's jog wheel is in pitch bend mode. HOWEVER, it's the OPPOSITE on the right deck, and it shouldn't be. On my other machines, both decks work the same way. I tested this same DV6 with a Numark DJ To Go controller, which has no choice on scratch mode, it's always on. The left deck scratches, while the right deck PITCH BENDS. Because it has this unusual behavior on two different brands of controller, I believe this is either a VDJ issue, or something to do with the computer itself or the operating system (Windows 7, 64 bit, with the latest updates).
Anyone have ideas about what this might be, and how to fix it?
So far, I tried resetting the mappers (nothing was in the mappers directory), and verified that I'm using VDJ Pro 7.0.5.b and the latest drivers for the 4-Mx.
I intend on returning this laptop if I cannot resolve this issue, and I only have a few days left to do that, so I need to either resolve this quickly, or give up and return the laptop. As I have another DV6 (working correctly, using the very same drivers and 7.0.5.b), I'm particularly puzzled.
