话题: windows 7 tweaking for best performance

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I am having some issues with my system. I just purchased the system about a month ago to replace my old dual core

Specs:
Phenom II N950 Quad Core 2.1ghz
9GB Ram
1GB Video Memory Dedicated Radeon HD 6650M
650gb HDD
2TB External
Latest VDJ
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Completely updated
All the latest drivers and bios updates

I run videos and audio during a set that lasts between 5 and 10 hours so I need everything to be smooth and working top notch.

A lot of times I just have a playlist on the right that auto mix's with a 4 second overlap removing intro/outro

Ok, so here's my problems and what I've done to fix them and the problems that I've experienced since.

First problem was a random crash:
I started up the system for the first time using virtual DJ since I installed it. Had to transfer 15.5 gigs of files and like an idiot I ended up using virtual dj to transfer them from one external to another. The screen went white as it was transferring but I wasn't playing music or videos or anything at the time. Then I ejected and unplugged the external. Changed some video settings with auto clips for audio and what not then started my set. after an hour or so, the video started glitching, playing in segments and then pausing video for a few seconds. Looked odd to me. Then my system comes up with a message saying my system has crashed. The audio was still playing, I crossed my fingers and clicked for it to fix it. The program shut down completely (how scary is that in a room full of people during a production) It came back up after some quick clicking and working with it. Didn't do it again the rest of the night but that's when I got a different error message. After the crash I also stayed away from the 720p and 1080i videos that I had just to be on the safe side.

Next problem:
I was getting the error of not enough memory to load certain videos and they would have to be loaded on the fly. Wasn't screwing anything up but still a unnerving message to get after you just had a crashing issue previously.

Final problem that night:
Tracks were taking quite a long time to load even after adding them to the search database.

So I did some research on some of my issues and I got a hold of the registry tool.

Changes made:
Increased max memory to use up to 512 and ticked the box for fast loading. Also disabled decode in multithread under video options.

Now I have a couple new problems:
Every time the track changes from one to the next, I get an audio & video stutter that sounds horrible as it begins loading the next track.

Also, if I change tracks too quickly such as changing tracks while the track it's going in to hasn't finished loading yet, the video and controls on VDJ lock up for about 20 seconds.

At the club I was using everything from the external, now that I'm running my tests at home, I loaded up all the normal videos I use on the main internal hard drive and am running those.

It seems like I'm still having the slow loading speed problem. seems like the 1080 quality videos load just fine as mp4 but the standard quality mp4's are about a 50/50 shot between loading fast or slow.

Please help me, my dual core system was doing great before, it only had 4 gigs of ram and no dedicated video memory but it was an AMD chipset as well with an ATI video card. only problem with that system is the battery crashed the whole system in the middle of one set but I just ran it without a battery from that point on. also, cpu usage was high on that one, this system is a lot smoother and uses a lot less cpu.

I know it's a long one but I want everyone to know the steps I took and everything I'm experiencing here.

ok, I've done all that and I still seem to get long load times when loading up a track. Also getting the "your system has only a total of **mb available free segments"

On my old system, it would run fine but now it's got that segment message coming up and it seems that when a file loads with that on it, the video won't play for that file. I can't have this happening because it seems like my older system had fewer problems? what's going on here?

PS: I don't have an option to roll back the driver.
