Hi i use a jack to double phono as an output and double it up so the white is left deck and red is right, simples, soooo can i reverse that onto the input and run time codec from my cdj's or do i need to buy one of these over priced sound cards for £200 quid. I did have a little play with the advanced config and got some movement but then lost it all. does anyone know or have they every managed it?? would be good if there was a standard imput setting for this like it does for the output ey???

Yep you need a sound card with CDJ800s. The time codes on the cd's are digital codes (ones and zeros). it comes out the CDJs as an analog noise. the sound card then turns that noise back to digital (ones and zeros) modulate de modulate (bit like an old modem for your computer). It then feeds this into your computer which VDJ then understands and knows that you are playing a song and where it is, for this it needs a stereo input.
Without a sound card the CDJ800 has no way of talking to your computer and VDJ. I think I am right with what I am saying, but then again could always be wrong.
Hope this helps

You will need a proper low latency ASIO sound card with at least two stereo inputs (One for each CDJ), such as Hercules DJ Trim or ESI Maya44 USB for timecode to work well.
ESI Maya44 USB is inexpensive and works well for most users.
