I currently use the MC6000 with the latest version of Virtual Dj. Is there a way to use the MC6000 to trigger playing & controlling the pitch and some of the other fuctions that it does with VDJ, but then use the Akai APC40 midi controller to trigger & minipulate visual & audio effects, choose transitions & trigger them, all at the same time. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the APC40, but in principle you can have two different midi devices controlling VDJ at the same time.

Ok. Hopefully it's not difficult to do. This is my first time trying anything like this.

It would just be a case of copying the script from the MC6000 mapping and assigning it to a button on the other controller. I'm not sure if the Akai is supported by VDJ but if it's not you can use the simple midi wrapper.
If you get stuck with the mapping there are guys here who can help!

It'll work fine. Just make sure you're MIDI-devices are configured to use different MIDI-channels, so your devices aren't sending the same MIDI-notes as possibly interfere with each other.

For native supported controllers, it doesn't matter if two or more use the same MIDI channels (Each has its own unique USB MIDI interface.)
In fact, changing the MIDI channels from the default may result in a native supported device not working.
The same also applies for non-native controllers that have their own proper definition and mapper file.
Unique MIDI channels are only normally required for mapping multiple MIDI controllers using Simple MIDI Wrapper.

Hey all I thought I should let you know that yes indeed you can use the apc40 for anything you want in Virtual dj. I have the mappers and device files in the upload section. it explains how to use it. all you would need to do is make sure you have the free version of live 8 to activate the 40. after that you just go in and rewrite whatever you want the buttons to do and make sure you write the lights in to respond accordingly.
