Hi,
I'm using VDJ 6.07 with OS 10.6. I'm new to mp3 mixing software so sorry if this is a stupid question:
Is there a way to pull up my saved BPM on a track AND see what the original is supposed to be? I've seen the threads about changing mu options to "read and write" but I think I want the ability to see what pitch/speed the song was at originally. Is that possible?
Thx!

v6.0.7 is an old and out of date version of the software. There have been many changes and improvements to the software since then (See http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ_History.html ) - We are now on v7.0.4
Please register your serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then upgrade to the latest version: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
Or purchase the latest version from the following page: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html
If you are using VirtualDJ for home use only without MIDI controllers/timecode/video, then you can download and use VirtualDJ v7 Home from http://www.virtualdj.com/download/free.html - This version can be used completely free of charge for non-commercial home use (It may not be used a DJ gigs where you are being paid.)
The BPM of a song is automatically calculated by VirtualDJ the first time it is loaded on a deck. If this is incorrect for any reason, you can correct it by loading the song on a deck, playing it and then tapping the BPM button on the skin in time to the beat. Or right-click on the BPM button to manually edit it. If the song has the BPM stored in the ID3 tag by a 3rd party utility or other DJ software, then this can be seen by right-clicking on the file and choosing File Infos.
If the BPM value and other information is lost after closing VirtualDJ, then your permissions may be set incorrectly so that VirtualDJ cannot save its database.

Thanks for all the info! I thought I was on the latest version but obviously not. I bought a Hercules Mk4 this past weekend, loaded up the software it came with (VDJ 6 I believe) and then found the 6.07 update for mac somewhere on this website via basic google search. I'll register the controller asap. Will that let me get up to VDJ 7? I was going to fork over the $50 to upgrade to pro (I'm on the 20 day pro trial right now). Will that still work to get me to VDJ pro 7 or is my software too far behind? Part of the reason I went with a Hercules controller was the $50 upgrade fee to pro so I could save a lil $$$.
In terms of BPM, I'm still a bit confused on my original question. Is there a way to see both the original BPM of a song AND the last BPM I played it at? Or is it just one or the other? I guess I want to be able to know the original speed the song was intended to be played at, even if I changed it slightly for a mix last time. Does that make more sense?
New BPM issue: Without any pitch manipulation on my part, the BPM in my track listing is sometimes quite different than the track info being displayed at the top of the screen once I load a song onto a deck. It's not a consistent difference and is anywhere from 1-5 BPM off. It looks like the info at the top of the screen is correct but the track listing in my play lists is the one that's off. Maybe upgrading to 7 will fix this? I'll keep you posted and can also send a screen shot later tonight if needed.
Thanks for all the help! Been checking out the boards and the support is definitely top notch.

Registered the Mk4. The latest version it would let me download is 6.1.2 so we're going with that for now. Will that change if I do the $50 upgrade to pro?
So far BPM display issue described above is actually fine in this update.

If you have the auto pitch matching options turned on, then the software will automatically adjust the pitch when loading a song to match the BPM of the song on the other deck. If you prefer to beat match manually, these options can be turned off in CONFIG -> Options in either the full VirtualDJ Pro or the 20 day Pro trial.
The song's original BPM (Before adjustment to match BPM) will be shown in the VirtualDJ browser, or you can simply use the pitch slider/knob to change the pitch back to 0%.
