Like most my laptop video is choppy when playing with "enable hardware acceleration" turned on. I am ok with losing transitions and effects but I need to get my video's smooth again. When I turn the "enable hardware acceleration" feature off, the video stop playing and VDJ no longer displays on the 2nd monitor.
How can I turn the 2nd monitor on with "enable hardware acceleration" turned off?

I have never run without hardware acceleration. Your laptop has good specs; I'd wonder if it was your resolution. I'd imagine without dedicated video it would have trouble running at 1600X900. See if you can scale it down. My 2 cents.

Unfortunately I thinks its the video card in the laptop, I had the same exact laptop & the video was choppy for me . I ran the extended resolution at 800 x 600 16bit & it still was very choppy. I have an Acer & Gateway Laptop that I run video all night with my same hardware & resolutions . I sold my G7 lappy after 1 week i couldn't get it to run video smoothly. I even installed 32bit Vista & Windows 7 & on the machine, video was still choppy.

I would concur with the above post on the video card - I have found over the last 3 years (and 4 laptops later) that VDJ prefers Nvidia and ATI for its choice of laptop video cards. I just bought a brand new Sony "C" Series VAIO with 2GB dedicated Video RAM (Intel Radeon Graphics Card), i5 Processor, and the exact same thing happened. Then I purchased a Dell XPS 15z with the Nvidia card (1GB video Ram), and it works like a champ. My last two laptops were BOTH Dell's with Nvidia cards and no issues. I guess when the specs say "Nvidia or ATI recommended - they weren't kidding...;-)
