Topic: Karaoke cd+g cda files

Doing a karaoke competition soon where they will be bringing their own cds. I got hold of a couple of cds to test with and vdj wont display the graphics. The cds look like standard cds in structure - just a bunch of cda files. Did some checking and this seems to be a common format using cd+g with the graphics encoded into the cda file itself. Can VDJ play these?

VirtualDJ cannot play CD+G directly from the original CD's. Only audio CD's are supported (To allow you to play tracks at short notice from a CD that you have not yet ripped to MP3, or a customer's CD.)

To play karaoke in VirtualDJ, you will need to 'rip' these to MP3+G format.

If customers will be bringing their own karaoke CD's, you will need to use a conventional karaoke CD player.

mate try hook up with contestants and ask what songs they will be singing...then you have option of making sure you have songs (no work req)
or buy tracks or receive cd before gid and rip and place in one file for less work on the night.
from experience ive always tried to be prepared before gig but they all think they are x factor material lol.

Cheers mate - already tried that approach. Not going to be possible. Its going to be cds on the day unfortunately. These guys are full on competitive. I'm pretty sure no matter what I do, the sound wont be right for everyone who doesnt win hehe. I've bought a new karaoke cd player today and I'll just run them thru that.
 
or buy power karaoke to ipod. this will let you convert the cd+g file in to mpeg 4 and you can then play them in vdj.
