Guys, having recently built a new system for use with Firetext when doing karaoke/video shows, it seems this memory leak issue is getting its claws into me.
Here is my spec:
Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit SP1
AMD Athlon II x4 640 Processor 3.00 ghz
Installed Memory: 3.00gb
Gigabyte M720-US3 motherboard
ASUS EAH5570 Graphics Card with 1gb ddr3
DirectX 11
1.5 tb system/media drive
DVD ROM
Keyboard/mouse
onboard sound
VDJ 7.0.2
No external controllers
Generally outputting to an external display.
When i load a video onto the player and play it, from Task Manager window my Physical Memory use is like 81% so i can't even load another video onto the other deck without getting the 'contiguous memory' problem!!!
I've spent the best part of today reading the forums and it seems the way round this is to roll back the Catalyst Control Centre. Does anybody know if there's a 'good' version to use and where to find it?
I'd downloaded the registry tool and updated videomemmaxuse from 0 to 768. Doesn't seem to make any difference. Also, i've now noticed that it takes a good 20-30 seconds for my VDJ to close. That's if it closes at all. Most of the time it freezes and i need to kill it from Task Manager.
Been wondering...if CCC is causing issues, can't we just uninstall that particular utility and run without it? CCC is not the actual driver, is it? Is that not just a utlity program?
Any suggestions welcome. I apologise for adding another forum about this but unless i've missed something, i think once and for all it needs to be sorted out. Too many of us seem to be miserable with it. I'm not putting blame onto anyone, i'm just sharing my opinion. Please feel free to chime in...:o)
Thanks. Keep spinnin'...(",)

Guys...update on this.
After digging round the net for the past few hours and days it seems that ATI memory leaks have been affecting users for a number of years. I spoke to my vendor and changed the graphics card to an Nvidia GeForce GT430 PCI Express 2 with 1gb DDR3.
Installed the packaged driver and utility and updated the driver direct from the Nvidia website and hey presto...seems ok. Need to run a hundred videos or so through it just to double check but it seems that nvidia rock.
Incidentally, uninstalling the CCC from the ATI package did not solve the issue. Fantastic, eh? Grrrr...damn computers!!! :o)
Anyway, if i've any more hassles i'll post.
Cheers...and keep spinnin'...(",)

There was a memory leak in ati's drivers from version 9.8 to 9.11 and version 10.1 to 10.2. I'd say you probably had one of these drivers installed. You could have kept that card had you liked I'd say. Anyways, invidia has always been my card of choice so I'd say buying one was a good move anyways :p

i'm having the exact same problem with a BRAND NEW MACBOOK PRO. it is absolutely ridiculous that this issue hasn't been fixed yet. i guess i'm gonna buy some other software because i'm not gonna spend my money on something that doesn't work. i haven't even seen one post by anyone here at VDJ that they are actually working to remedy this situation.

It’s not a VDJ problem it is an ATI problem with certain drivers from them
