话题: Behringer DD4000 Mixer - How to...

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I've noticed a lot of posts from people regarding mapping a DDM4000 mixer for use with Virtual DJ, don't bother!

Firstly the DDM4000 is a mixer, it is not a controller and if you read through the manual, you'll notice that not all of it's controls can be mapped - back to the "it's a mixer" thing.

So, with that out of the way, how do you go about making the best use of your shiny new mixer and how do you set it all up. To answer those questions, I will run through how I've had mine setup for many a year.

In the rig that I use my DDM4000, I use the following items (and I will use this as the basis of describing how to set it all up):

1) Pair of Numark NDX800 CDJ/USB/MIDI units.
2) Numark DJIO sound card
3) Laptop running Virtual DJ Pro.

So, lets start off with the connections...

1) Plug the power leads into the DDM4000, NDX800's and laptop.

2) Connect the audio output from the NDX800's into the mixer - Left deck into channel 3 and right deck into channel 4. Make sure you connect them to the line in and also make sure your input selector switch is set to Line In (it's on the back near the RCA connections).

3) Connect the DJIO , via USB to the laptop.

4) Connect Output 1 from the DJIO into channel 1 of the mixer and Output 2 into channel 2 of the mixer. Again use the Line In connections and make sure your input selector is set to Line in.

5) Plug your headphones into the headphone socket of the DDM4000.

Right, were all now plugged in, just need to setup Virtual DJ and were good to go.

Select MIDI MODE on the NDX800's and start up Virtual DJ.

Once started go into CONFIG and select the Sound tab and setup using the following:

Inputs: NONE

Outputs: External Mixer

Sound Card: Numark USB Audio Device and ASIO Driver.

Click apply and that's it.

You can select a skin that doesn't have volume, eq's, etc, etc on as the mixer will now be doing all that.

Use the NDX800's to control Virtual DJ and control the sound output using the DDM4000.

You would use the same methodology for any other controller (instead of the NDX800's).

I hope that this helps

Simon

Can i still control virtual dj, or is that only with the ndx800s. Thanks for the help

As previously stated, the DDM4000 is a mixer, it is not a controller. You control all the functions EXCEPT the sound output using your MIDI controller(s), in the example above one NDX800 controls one deck and the other NDX controls the other deck.

The Mixer then accepts the sound output from your sound card, in a totally unaltered state, via the Line In connections and you now use the controls on the mixer to control the sound parameters - Remember that this mixer is primarily an analogue sound mixer.

If your not familiar with audio setups, having this MIDI aspect can, and often does, simply confuse the situation.

Does that help any?

I am confused by you stating that this mixer is not a controller. It can be used (via MIDI interface cable) to control whatever functions of VDJ you wish. I have many of the buttons and knobs on my DDM mapped to control many different aspects, from cue points to effects via the MIDI. That said, there ARE a few limitations. And yes, you DO need an audio interface to actually get the audio into the mixer.

sphis...yes you are correct, I did say that the DDM4000 is not a controller - Behringer make no claims that it is. It is just a mixer that has some MIDI capabilities.

As you say, you can use the MIDI functions to control aspects of software (as any MIDI enabled device can), but some people are being given to understand that the DDM4000 is a controller and therefore are trying to set it up as one with varying degrees of success.

This How To was done to show how the DDM4000 is best employed as a mixer with the controlling of Virtual DJ being handled by specific MIDI controllers. i.e. units that are marketed as software controllers.

Ahhh...Thanks. When I read it, I skimmed through and didn't have a full understanding. You are right, it is NOT a controller. Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding, and great job on the HOW TO.

Hey Simon, so with the NDX-800s, can't you just route the audio from the NDX soundcard to the mixer? or is that not recommended?
