Topic: Problem with Numark NS7 and Virtual DJ (please help me)

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Ok so i purchased a NS7 a couple months ago. When i try to use it with VDJ the sound quality is terrible. Songs kind of cut out and crackle every few seconds. I notice its worse when i have 2 songs playing at once. I don't really like the ITCH software just due to the fact that the BPM match is so much better w/ VDJ. Im just overall more comfortable wit with h VDJ ive been using it for a few years. I'm using Windows 7 (64-bit) with a pentium dual core CPU @ 2.10 ghz and 4 GB of ram. Id suck it up and use ITCh but even with ITCH the songs drop out every once in a while. The answer i got from tech support was go buy a MACBOOK. Could it possibly be settings or do i need to ditch the PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Increase the latency on the NS7 control panel (in the NS7 driver, not the performances tab in VDJ). To find the NS7 settings, just goto Start\Programs\Numark ..... Set to 512. I had slower machines and that was the best setting for me.

You may need to bump it upto 1000, that processor is kind of slow for the NS7. I have a 2.3 ghz back up machine running Win 7 32 bit. It is ok but I have to run 512 latency (again in the NS7 control panel). Running it is kind of scarry as VDJ (when I was on Vista) has locked up on me twice with that machine. In Win 7 32 bit, it has been better, but I don't trust it.

I have a Win 7 64 bit, 3.2 ghz i5, 8 gig ram, bla bla bla, built desktop and that thing is rock solid rig. Numark tech support told me to meet minimum specs for the PC. Which ment 2.4 ghz or better processor. It sucked to need a new PC when mine was working so well before the NS7, but I listened and they were right. The NS7 needs a screaming fast PC.

Good luck, trust me I put in the time (2months of testing) there really is no fix except for a super fast PC.

Yea I think I just have to suck it up and buy a new laptop. Just kind of sucks bc its less than a year old and was almost a grand. I really appreciate the help.

@DJJOEYF

Check your latency and settings>

Here is what I would do before you spend $$$$ on a new laptop:
1.Uninstall all drivers Numark and Serato ITCH. then reboot
2. Reinstall Numark NS7 drivers from Numark site at www.numark.com Have the NS7 powered on and connected (follow the on screen instructions)
3. Download the latest 1.7 ITCH software from www.serato.com (again Have the NS7 powered on and connected and follow the on screen instructions carefully) you will notice a tab for a firmware update option, perform the firmware option durring the install process.
4. When all done reboot.
5. Follow the instructions located here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS47alAQLeE
6. Let me know how it turned out for you (feedback) as this may help others too.

Notice in the video I was using a Pentium D Processor and it is not the latest greatest like the i7 etc...
7. Take the $$$$$ (large amount) you saved by not having to upgrade your hardware and apply a very very small portion of it to buy VDJ 7 Pro instead. :)

I have a 32-bit Windows Vista Sony laptop w/ 1.8 ghz dual core and 2 gigs of memory. The official instructions from numark says to set sound card latency to auto and make sure to disable safe mode. This helped for me. Also I noticed one big difference was disabling the motors. Now granted this may be unacceptable for most since this is the whole reason you'd buy the NS7 but I use the motors w/ Itch for my club/high school events and turn the motors off for weddings while using VDJ7. Uses significantly less cpu. Just a thought, especially if you're in an emergency situation and just need it to work.
