Topic: Editing Max/Min BPM?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi VDJ users and staff!

I was just wondering if there is a way to edit the maximum or minimum allowed BPM in VDJ. I plan on using it to spin Hardcore and Drum N Bass, both of which can be detected as 85 or 170 BPM depending on the song. I'd like to get rid of one of those options. I've already analyzed a lot of my music, so ideally if it could be changed without reanalysis, I'd be happy.

Even so, I'd be willing to reanalyze if it meant having them all under the same BPM banner!

Thanks!

right click on the "bpm" icon.. the choose X2 or /2

Well, yes, I knew how to do this, but I was wondering if there was a faster way that didn't require going through and clicking that on hundreds of files... Also, I have bound the key that does the x2 function, but still, I'd like to have it all done before I go to select the song, not after.

What version are you using?

can you give me an example of three songs "artist - title" that have the wrong BPMs?

I'm using version 6.

I could list about a hundred examples. Here are three that I could find on youtube that are analyzed at half bpm.

Johnny L - Piper

E-Z Rollers - Tough At The Top

Hyperactive - Let Me Play

I don't know if those youtube copies will analyze at half BPM, and I also don't know what these will help you figure out... I was just wondering if there was something I could change that will make the "allow tracks <80 BPM" switch go higher...

song like that are pretty hard to pick up the correct BPM.. (and still allow correct detection of other Genres)

at the moment theirs no "switch" with VDJ that forces it to compensate for detecting Drums n bass type songs.
I know its been asked before, maybe if enough pro users ask for it, it may happen..

untill then you have a couple of other options..

You can set a keyboard key to be mapped to "Set_BPM 200%" , this would be equal to the X2 key.. you would still have to start loading a song into the deck, but its still a pretty fast way to do it..

another option is too use an external bpm detection program and have those BPM's written to the "tags" of the file (works on mp3's and mp4's, etc)
VDJ will read the BPM 'tag' and only stray from that number +/- a few bpm's

Ah, so VDJ Reads the BPM tags on the files over the ones in the database? Because if so, I could easily set up a nice mp3tag program to fix my problem. I'll try this out.

Thanks :)

EDIT: Is there any way to make VDJ write the tags to the files?

No, VDJ uses it's own database and there is no info written back to the tags.

not to confuse you.. but no.. ;-)
to be exact..

when VDJ FIRST see's a new song it will pull the information from the Tags if available.. sooooo... if the song has the BPM tag filled out it will default to THAT number..

BUT, if the song has already been scanned or added to the VDJ, and you change the BPM 'tag' after the fact, it will still continue to use the original BPM that was scanned. :-(
IE: mass editing the 'tags' after they have already been added to VDJ's database means you then have to force VDJ to reload those tags.
(or again, you have to go thru every song that was changed, and "force" VDJ to load the new BPM tag)

If your editing the 'tags' for 100's of files.. your best bet is to
1.) 'remove them from the search DB', then do a 'clean' & fix of the hard drive. (which will remove those entries from VDJ's Database)..
2.) edit the 'tags' with your favorite tag editor,
3.) then re-add them back to the 'add to search DB'
4.) rescan and voila, all the correct information should be in their..
5.) major bonus.. that same info will be available to other programs..

no..
BUT, this is a feature that has been asked for MANY TIMES..
I'm feeling pretty confident we will see this in one of the future versions, or someone will make an add-on that will do this..

Ok, thanks for the help guys.

Sadly, it seems the other alternatives will require a lot of unnecessary work on my part, so I guess I'll just live with the half-bpm thing.

Thanks again, I really appreciate the answers and explanations :)
