On my website any potential customer can complete a quote request form to receive a quote form me, once I receive a quote I then reply back to them via there email with a quote for the work. If they then wish to go ahead and make a booking I usally receive a email from them saying (we want to book whats the next step) so i then send them a booking form attached to an email (in PDF) they then print it off and complete it by hand and send it to my home address with a cheque for the deposit. Obviously I then have to bank the cheque and file the paperwork as well as type out an electronic copy so that I can store it on my pc "it's a nightmare!"
Can anyone suggest a better alternative, please take me through it step by
step.
I don't want auto availability check and I want to still quote for every job sooner than it be automated, but after that I then need them to be able to complete an online form and pay the deposit n be able to print out all the details afterwards.
PS, Keep up the good work folks!

Instead of accepting Cheques! Why not try to incorporate Paypal or Google check out into your Booking system! Easy to setup and the cash you'd save on petrol running to and from the bank will cover the fee's of paypal or Google Checkout. Just an idea

that's what i would suggest, paypal has an easy pay system by internet or over the phone and is free and you have transactions on line for your records, service charges are reasonably quite low.

Hi Mike,
From what I can see you just have a quote request form on your site, I have one also. It's the taking online bookings part afterwards that I was talking about but thanks anyway.

You can accept PayPal or credit cards through Paypal. Rates start at 2.9% and get lower the more you charge. Check out info at PayPal.com.
I feel like I'm a rep for them.

Everything is done through your website using dj intelligence with Paypal accepting your payments. All you need to do is sign up for dj intelligence (100 bucks for the year) and enter your Paypal address in the correct section and you're accepting payments online instantly. You do need a certain Paypal account status.

I have read on other forums about paypal problems. The biggest complaint I read about was the paypal chargebacks. Take a look at this site for some of the problems sellers have had while using paypal.

Hypothetically what would stop a customer for seeking a refund after an event. They have 45 days to appeal the charge. I personally use paypal as well but always checking out other options. They had this alternative on their website.

I don't use paypal a whole lot. Most people still do it the old fashioned way and send me a check even though recently for the first time I received a check that bounced and this customer seems to have dropped off the planet. I previously had always asked for the remaining balance to be paid prior to the start of the event. Guess thats going to have to change. At least this couple was nice enough to give me a tip in the check that bounced!

Fiddling around with checks or even Paypal accounts seems like too much of a hassle.
I don't know about UK, but here in Finland pretty much everybody who was a bank account has also access codes to Internet bank, so they can make transactions, pay bills, etc. online. Don't people in the UK use this, or is it some legal issue?

It's the booking system from beginning to the end, the entire process not just payment method or getting a quote
