when i first started with vdj, i used the alpha #'s 2,4,8, etc to loop beats for proper beat matching.
numark's dmc 2 made it even easier. but it didn't have an audio driver, so i let it go.
now i have denon's hc4500 with high quality dual stereo audio out, but don't know how to loop beats.
i know how to loop in and loop out. but that's not accurate.
how do you "loop"?
how do you alternate loop to next level? ex: from 2 to 4 to 8 to 16..
how do you alternate loop to previous level? ex: from 2 to 1 to 1/2 to 1/4
thanks in advanced.

I think you have to download a custom mapper for your hardware. The customized mapper allows for such features. You can find it under downloads, tools and drivers

I use numark dmc-2 but I have seen the mapper for your hardware on the download section.. Did it work?

i have numark's dmc2 and it works great.
hot button for looping. jog mode: loop move and jog mode: loop length.
but denon is a whole other story. so many buttons and yet so little use. had it now been for the sound card, i wouldn't bother.

DMC2 i think its one of the best hardware integrated for vdj. The idea is perfect but the quality is still numark. Denon is at another level. Plus having the sound card built in its always a big plus. I have used numark cdn90 and denon dn6000...and quality of the denon far exceeded numarks. Numark has one thing going and its easy of use and the right features nothing extra. All depends on opinion though. I use the gigaport ag sound card and the numark dmc2 with a denon x500 mixer.
take care

i also use denon x500 mixer. it's awesome.
denon has stuff i'll never use. and if numark had a touch sensitive jog disc with built in high quality dual stereo out sound card i would buy that tomorrow.
i got tired of using another usb port for the sound card. so i made the switch.
here is my scenario.
denon: dual hq stereo asio out + midi controller in one == horrible midi support and useless buttons
numark: midi controller with ideal buttons == no sound card and jog disc difficult to scratch with

The m-audio fast track pro was a horrible separate sound card, vdj will constanly freeze, I was so tired of it and the unpredictabilty of it that I went and bought serato and used timecoded cds from a denon dn6000 for a while. I sold that whole dj setup and my new setup with dmc2 and gigport ag sound card has been very solid. I dont do a lot of scratching, so the touch sensitive wheel was not a real deal breaker for me. With the mapper that is avaiable now for your denon I heard a lot of good things. After I am bored of the dmc2 i might look into it. I only bought the dmc for 170 us, so i didnt spend any crazy money on it. But the denon x500 one of the best mixers i have used. i love how each channel you can see with the led meter how loud the song is, so for each channel you can match the output volume before it goes out to your speakers, so you dont have alot of changes in sound. perfect...
take care...good luck with ur denon, did you try it out with the mapper yet? does it have the one touch beat match button mapped to it?
