Hey DJ Pulse,

I want to get the EFX 1000 so i can have better effects than the ones included with VDJ i was gonna make the transition to traktor since i know this software well but i decided to stay :)

im not sure how this will work with my set up,

(CDJ400, DDM4000, CDJ400)

not sure how the set up will work :/ im not even sure how to formulate the right questions.

Q:
1. do i just connect it to one of the channels of my mixer or VDJ?

i guess more general how can i integrate an external effector with my VDJ set up.

I'm not familiar with your mixer, but in order to use an external effector you need a mixer with a "FX Send/Return" function (or "Transform")
If your mixer provides such a function, then that's where you should connect your ext FX unit.


Edit:
I just took a look at your mixer. You can't use an ext FX unit with "FX Send/Return" since your mixer does not provide such ability. The only way to use an ext. FX unit on this mixer is to use one of the booth outputs to send the signal to the FX unit, and one of the four channels to get it back, but this would introduce to main issues:
1) The FX would be tied to the master output of your mixer and not per channel
2) You should be very careful not to get a feedback loop...
 
any advice? i want to add an effector to my set up... maybe something midi or something that add on great to VDJ?

As PhantomDeejay told you, I guess you can't add external FX device with your equipment.

You have two possibilities now:
1) replace your external mixer with another one which's FX Send/Return connection;
2) use effects provided by Atomix or download VST effects you can find in internet for free.

Hi, I have been searching but can't find a specific answer.

I am DJing in a club with 2 x cdj 2000's and a DJM 800. I have never took my laptop down with me but thought this time I would.

If i was to connect both cdjs via usb and run them into my laptop. Load up virtual DJ. Providing all drivers and software is up to date would I be able to use the cdj's like midi controllers.

Sorry for the stupid questions.... also Would i still be able to put cd's in and dj as normal and would the waveforms be visable in VDJ.
 
Yes, you can use CDJ-2000 as midi controller as well as normal CD player. You only need to push one of the buttons you have of the left of your display.

P.S: when you put in a normal CD, you CANNOT see in VirtualDJ the track waveform you have on you CD.
 
Hello everybody.

I have simple question:

Can I use Pioneer CDJ 100 as Virtual DJ controllers? And what is needed to do it?

I also have HP Compaq Presario CQ61, Hercules DJ Console (MK2 i think), external mixer. Is there any solution about this?
 
You can't use CDJ-100 as MIDI controllers to control VDJ. However you can use them with Timecode CD's :)
 
And how it will happen? What I need to do this? An external sound card? Or something else? And how can I get timecode CD?
 
I have timecode CD for Serato, can they be used?
 
You can download the audio for the timecode CD from here: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/timecode/cd.html and create your own timecodes for free.

You will need an external soundcard with 2 stereo inputs and 2 stereo outputs such as Maya44 USB or Audio 4 Dj

Less money for soundcard WITH the ability to run Timecodes??? I'm afraid no...
BTW: You will need such a soundcard for ANY timecode solution you may use.
 
will the new cdj-850 work with VDJ as midi controller??

hi all,

i a fiddling around with my djm in midi mode. i use a esi midimate II and that is installed in win 7 x64
i have the djm in midi mode, by turning on the dj and then pressing midi on/off switch (display says midi on)however absoluteley nothing happens. in vdj. if i press start/stop in the midi section on the djm 700 still nothing happens.
auto learn doesn't detect incoming signal.
i guess i am missing something, but what?

> He is thinking about to buy these nice player, but heard about problems with the driver (XP/W7 32bit).
Means the sound jumps when using the CDJ soundcard after 2 to 3 mins.
Can someone confirm or belie?

on the dutch forum someone said that when he changed from pc to cd mode, vdj crashed over and over again. he mapped the cdj himself

1. Have never experienced that problem of sound jumping. My guess would be that he has the latency set to fast for what his computer can handle.

2. Yes - uncheck the 'show only connected devices' in the Mapper tab and see the whole list.

3. Well working 'fine' is subjective - but from what I have experienced with the unit I have is that it works well - just need to make sure if he is going to use 2 units then he aggregates them and then in VirtualDJ uses the 4-out option and selects the Aggregate Device.

Does he have the problem if he uses the native mapping? If not, then he has a problem with something in the mapping he created.
