话题: need help vdj stopped showin my music at last nights party!!

由于该帖子已年深日久，可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

so the party was from 5 to 10 and about 9 the music disappeared for a minute and it came back ,but then it happened again .. the screen was stuck" browsing" and i had to use finder to search music then drag song to deck in vdii restarted vdj first chance i got and the songs were there..
this is the second time its happened so thats why I'm posting.. the first time i thought it was a glitch or something but now I'm worried as it happened again and i have a big party this weekend and wedding to do next weekend
i read somewhere about deleting settings (after making a backup of it ) gonna try that any thin else could cause this has this happened to anyone
i didn't get a crash report but i did get one a few weeks ago but forget why..think i was messing with midi settings pn control z2

Sometimes that happens if your external hard drive gets disconnected.

Check your USB cable and make sure the port on your computer is clear.

If for one reason or another your cable was loose or moved in the wrong way to cause a disconnection, that could have also caused it.

it shouldn't of moved .it sit on the shelf of the mixer case plugged directly into computer.
also, i was able to search for music and drag it to vdj so the hd was still connected( also window would pop up saying drive disconnected improperly)
gonna let vdj run today for a few hours and see what happens

The USB drive getting disconnected happens to me every once in a while and my drive doesn't move either. Could be the bass, or maybe just a loose connection that the bass effects. I'm not sure, but it does happen sometimes.

I don't believe that I've ever had a message that told me the drive had disconnected either.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the info...it hasnt happened at home but then again i cant really turn up the volume in my neighborhood only when at a venue
i have been rescanning my database since i downloaded the my files plugin and apparently i have like 8000 files not scanned..dont know how but this gonna take some time lol

UPDATE
so i have vdj browsing/scan I'm going through the My Library folder(which is awesome ) and i goes to click on after folder and nothing shows up .so i try and click on every thing starting with desktop and not one folder will show files or open for subfolders
What do i do besides restart?? this can't happen i have parties all weekend HELP

Now, I don't have a Mac, but the problem seems to be something to do with the drive disconnecting. Not sure if it's failing, a bad cable, going to sleep, etc.

Can you copy a portion of your library to your main drive and see if they stay?
Do you have another USB cable you can try?
Can you check in System Preferences/Energy Saver to see what the USB settings are?

I know in the past OSX had a close command line structure as Linux. With a command terminal open, dmesg would show the current kernel messages. They would show things like disconnects and such. Unfortunately, I do not have a Mac to test that with.

EDIT:
I had a friend test this on OSX 10.11.5

Open the terminal app
then use the following command
sudo dmesg

This will spit out a bunch of text. Run the command repeatedly while your having problems and see if it shows disconnects or read errors on the USB drive.

ok will try that now but i dont think its the external because its not even expanding the desktop or volumes or any other folder ..should i close vdi again ? Also i went o check hard drive and its there so i clicked on eject and its says can't eject because virtualdj is using it

Unfortunately I don't see any time stamps. But, it looks like Sandbox is trying to do something right before VDJ gets messed up.

Can you try without being connected to your network? I am assuming Sandbaox is trying to back up to a network drive.

EDIT: At first I thought Sandbox was part of time capsule because of some posts while searching. I now realize it is a protection service for when apps misbehave.

EDIT2: The more I read it appears sandbox is saying VDJ does not have permision to access the /Library

Looks like it may be a permissions issue. I think that maybe your computer is letting VDJ run, but in a "sandboxed" mode. Meaning, it's cut off from the rest of the system and doesn't have the permissions to use things outside of it's "sandbox". I'm not really that familiar with Macs, but I'm an IT consultant for my day job. This looks like something I've run into with Linux before. Mac is now based on Unix which is very similar.

You might want to try reinstalling and pay close attention to the prompts. It may be asking you if it has permission to run.

Check the links I just posted.

Look at the permissions of your drive, music folders, and of the VDJ program and it's associated folders as well.

vdj say sharing & permissions : i can read and write i did applt to kA contents of this folder just to be sure
same with hard drive and folders ..i can read/write

I meant to reinstall VDJ. Make a backup copy of your VDJ folder, and put it somewhere else. Detach your external hard drive. Then, uninstall VDJ.

After, do a complete shutdown of your system. Probably isn't necessary, but do it for good measure. After about 30sec, start your computer back up. Download a fresh copy of VDJ. Then, install that. Watch as you install it to see if it asks any questions.

After VDJ is reinstalled, run it and login. Poke around to see how things are. Then, close the program. Plug your external hard drive back in and wait a min. Then start VDJ up again. Look around and see how things are. Do your songs load? Do they play? Any issues?

After that, you can start adding skins and plugins back one at a time and test each time.

Finally, if all goes well, go into the backup copy you made of the VDJ folder and add back your history. Try all that out.

oh ok will try that.. gotta party today at 5 tho...after recording the video i realized vdj was downloading ..it updated itself and seems to be moving a bit faster . i will post back results thanks

update ..party went great ..no problems at all except seems master tempo or something was on although i had i set off ..but i couldn't really control using the slider on my technic 1200 mk2. that was a pain
